The Hydration Chronicles: Navigating Fasting

The Hydration Chronicles: Navigating Fasting

Hey there, fellow fasting friends! As the FAST:RX team gears up for our next fast, we're going to be reviewing the process and providing some tips and tricks we've learned along the way.

Do you experience what we like to call the "rumble in the belly"? Ah, the joys of fasting! As people who have been on the fasting journey, we can relate to those moments when your stomach seems to be staging a protest, demanding to be fed ASAP. Let's dive into the relatable world of fasting and those hunger pains that can make us question our sanity, shall we?

First off, let's address the elephant in the room (or should I say, the growl in the belly?): hunger during fasting is real, folks. And, in experience it is tied completely to hydration, errr lack of hydration.

Picture this: day one of your fast, on track to feeling like a super human, and then out of nowhere it hits you like a ton of bricks. Your stomach starts making noises that could rival a grizzly bear's growl, and suddenly all you can think about is food. Your mind is filled with images of juicy burgers, crispy fries, or that heavenly slice of cheesecake you saw on Instagram last night. Temptation is everywhere, and your willpower is being put to the ultimate test.

But fear not, our hungry dehydrated comrades, for there are ways to navigate through these tumultuous waters. Here are a few tricks I've picked up along the way:

  1. Stay Hydrated: Sometimes, what we perceive as hunger is actually just thirst in disguise. Keep a can of our fasting drink FAST:RX handy and sip on it throughout the day. One - how about 2 or 3! We find drinking a can in the morning, and then one in the afternoon, and then one in the early eventing helps us get through a hard fasting day.

  2. Keep Busy: Idle hands (and minds) are the devil's playthings, especially when you're fasting. Find activities to keep yourself occupied and distracted from thoughts of food. Whether it's diving into a good book, going for a walk, or tackling that project you've been putting off, staying busy can help take your mind off your growling stomach.

  3. Remember Your Why: Lastly, always remind yourself why you chose to fast in the first place. Whether it's for health reasons, weight loss, or longevity, keeping your end goal in mind can provide the motivation you need to push through those tough moments of hunger.

So, the next time you find yourself face-to-face with the dreaded hunger pains during fasting, remember that you're not alone. We're all in this together, navigating the ups and downs of fasting. Stay strong, stay focused, and most importantly, stay FUELED!
